The Event
From a youth trip organized in 1968 to the Bordeaux area, a partnership emerged in 1973 between the community of Sottrum and the canton of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.
In 1998, on the 25th anniversary of this partnership, a 1,500 km long friendship run took place from Sottrum to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne. In 10 daily stages, 24 runners and 8 cyclists delivered in the form of a relay race a 25th anniversary certificate. For the 50th anniversary of the partnership, another friendship run is to take place under the patronage of Sottrum from July 19th to 29th, 2023.

The Run
21 runners and 8 cyclists between the ages of 22 and 67 will present Sauveterre-de-Guyenne a certificate to mark the 50th anniversary of the partnership from the community of Sottrum.
The start is on July 19th, 2023 from the town hall in Sottrum, arrival is on July 29th, 2023. A total of 1,547 km and up to 7,560 meters in altitude are covered in 11 stages. The Run is in the form of a relay race. Each runner covers about 10 km and each cyclist about 40 km per day. Up to 16 relays, each with 1-2 runners/cyclists, are completed per day. Running/cycling is between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
